Mad Monster Party - 1987 Demos

Mad Monster Party was a great all-girl pop band from Los Angeles formed by Gwynne Kelly (formerly of The Pandoras) in 1987. The band featured Gwynne on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Linda Kennedy on lead guitar and vocals, Lynell Lacey on keyboards and vocals, Kelly Krause on bass and Jody Ritacco on drums and vocals. These are some of their earliest demos.

This tape was the band's greatest moment in my opinion--Gwynne never sounded better. She acheived her goal of being the aloof, brittle, talented scenester, (at least in sound) and everyone else contributes perfectly. Apparently only the earliest kids following MMP had this tape...I got it totally unexpectedly as an after thought on the back end of some other program. Boy, what a revelation. MMP's album wasn't even as good as this demo.
